You are More than What Happened to You
You Are More Than What Happened to You
There are moments in life that change us.
Some arrive wrapped in celebration. Others arrive as unexpected challenges, painful disappointments, or circumstances we never chose.
Sometimes, without realizing it, we let one experience become the definition of who we are.
We begin telling ourselves stories such as:
I failed.
I'm not strong enough.
I missed my opportunity.
It's too late for me.
But what if those beliefs are only one interpretation of a much larger story?
You are more than what happened to you. You are the woman who has continued growing, learning, and becoming.
One of the most transformative aspects of exploring your Soul Story is recognizing that you can revisit the meaning you've attached to your experiences.
You cannot rewrite the facts of your life.
But you can question the conclusions you've drawn about yourself.
You can recognize courage where you once saw only fear.
You can acknowledge perseverance where you once focused on disappointment.
You can discover that a difficult chapter influenced your life without defining your entire identity.
When I reflect on my experiences with breast cancer, I don't pretend those diagnoses were easy or that I would have chosen them.
But I also recognize that those experiences are not the entirety of my story.
They are chapters within a much larger life filled with love, creativity, connection, purpose, and joy.
Through writing, I've learned to recognize both the challenges and the wisdom that emerged as I continued living.
That is what I mean by rewriting your Soul Story.
It isn't about denying the past.
It's about allowing yourself to see the fuller truth of who you are.
Your Soul Story Reflection
Complete these sentences:
"An experience that changed how I saw myself was…"
"Looking back with compassion, I now recognize…"
"The woman I am today knows…"
Give yourself permission to consider a new perspective.
An Invitation to Go Deeper
In The Soul Story Journey, beginning October 29, we'll create space to honor your experiences and explore the beliefs you may be ready to reconsider.
You deserve to see yourself through a lens of compassion, wisdom, and possibility.
Your past is part of your story. It doesn't have to determine every page that comes next.
